Our first introduction to composition student Ellis Ludwig-Leone's San Fermin project was in the form of "Sonsick", a beautifully bursting slice of chamber-pop that, aided by the strident vocals of Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig, beared a specific and not at all negative resemblance to Dirty Projectors' own post-collegiate reimagining of the sounds inside their heads. The band's self-titled debut is out September 17 via Downtown; "Daedelus (What We Have)" is another cut from the LP, and this time Ludwig-Leone's concoction smacks of Sufjan Stevens' baroque, gently swelling tendencies.
