WITH the summer holidays well underway, charitable youngsters are continuing to make a difference to the local community.
Young people from across North Lincolnshire have signed up to this year's Humberside Police Lifestyle Challenge, which aims to bring about benefits to charities and community groups.
This week we feature three more groups taking part.
One of the youngsters is 10-year-old Emily Woodbridge who is raising money for Lindsey Lodge Hospice in Scunthorpe under the team name Gold Intentions.
The Castledyke Primary School pupil said: "I chose to raise money for Lindsey Lodge because they do a lot of good work for people.
"I have been doing a cake, a jumble sale and a raffle.
"I also did a sponsored walk across the Humber Bridge and it went really well.
"I have not got a final figure yet as to how much I have raised because I have still got some money to come. I am really enjoying doing Lifestyle and learned about it when someone came in to my school."
As well as making a difference, groups are also battling it out to win the first prize of a trip to Florida.
Celebrating its 25th year in 2013, Lifestyle has involved around 150,000 young people from across the Humberside Police force area, raising thousands of pounds for worthy causes. A total of 4,000 young people in the Humber area are expected to be involved in this year's challenge.
Another group to sign up this year is Plan Z.
The group organised a scooter ride around the Isle of Axholme as they bid to get a skate park built in Owston Ferry.
Adult adviser Sam Gallagher said the group had been to parish council meetings to put forward their case.
She said the parish council supported the idea but any plans to build the skate park would come down to funding.
Nine young people gathered to take part in the scooter ride to raise awareness of their campaign.
Another group taking part is the Mixed Mixtures from Scunthorpe.
Montanna McLaggan, Holly Spicer, Abbie Smith, Jessica Helley and Lilly-Sky Sutton, all 10, are helping out at The Little Imps nursery in Messingham, educating the children about wildlife.
