20-year-old Taylor Smith of Jasper, Ga. was out with friends when authorities say her body was dumped after she suffered a fatal asthma attack.
According to CBS News, deputies found her lifeless body near a mobile home just down the road from the county jail. Pickens County sheriff's deputies say the friends left her body outside a trailer on Robin Lane after attempting to revive her with a cold shower.
The victim’s mother, Tanya Smith, said her daughter suffered from “the worst asthma that you can.”
ABC News reports that two suspects have been arrested, and authorities are expecting more arrests in the case. Marty Gaddis, 38, and Denise Patterson, 51, face charges that include concealing a death, abandonment of a body, tampering with evidence and drug charges.
“These individuals failed to call 911 and render aid so we believe that based on potential drug use, they were more concerned about the drugs that were involved than getting Miss Smith some help,” Capt. Frank Reynolds of the Pickens Sheriff's Office told ABC.
Though Smith herself is a lieutenant with Holly Springs Police Department, she still has not seen any official reports, but suspects that the people with her daughter may have been doing meth.
She did not know any of the people with her daughter.
“She wasn’t with people that cared anything about her,” Smith stated. “They could’ve called 911. They could’ve called me. They could’ve called her dad. They could’ve called her roommate.”
“She was two miles from a hospital,” Smith added. “Yeah, I’m angry. I’m mad as hell. As the days go by, I’m getting even angrier. It didn’t have to happen.” Reported by Opposing Views 3 hours ago.
