Unique yoga discipline for any age or ability demonstrates that "gentle is the new strong."
San Luis Obispo, CA (PRWEB) November 21, 2013
Internationally-acclaimed yoga instructor Peter Sterios releases his newest DVD, Gravity & Grace 2: Yoga for Longevity (MSRP: $24.99), on sale November 29, 2013 through Amazon.com, Manduka.com, and PeterSterios.com. Renowned for his unique "gentle yet strong" style, Sterios recently taught yoga at the White House for one of Michelle Obama’s anti-obesity initiatives from 2010-2013.
A sequel to his first award-winning Gravity & Grace (2007), the new DVD combines Sterios’ more than 35 years of yoga teaching and advanced study into a distinctively approachable video that emphasizes "gentle is the new strong." The accessible, yet powerful yoga postures and movements in the DVD help practitioners of any age or ability increase their longevity and improve their quality of life.
Sterios explains that most yoga videos can be divided into two camps: those for the Boomer generation, which are often characterized by mild, restorative postures; and those for the younger, power-yoga and cross-fit crowds, which fail to incorporate a view of yoga as a practice for lasting personal health. Bridging the gap between these styles of yoga DVDs, Gravity & Grace 2 introduces a shift in the yoga paradigm with a novel style that challenges and engages individuals at any stage of life and yoga study. "A 70 year-old is one of the models in the DVD, a perfect testament to the accessibility of this yoga style," says Sterios.
It includes four sequences that allow individuals to fine-tune and energize their "own yoga" and build confidence in their inner wisdom. Each sequence can be watched separately or linked in order of preference for custom practices.
"The physical exercises and sequencing are suitable for any age, even for those new to yoga or those working with moderate physical limitations," Sterios explains. "More experienced students can use the movements as a form of cross-training to restore balance and avoid mental and physical ‘ruts’ in their daily practices."
Stephan Rechtschaffen, founder of the Omega Institute, comments, "Peter’s approach is an antidote to the body beautiful culture. Instead of constantly stretching and pushing the body beyond its limitations, through his guidance, Peter encourages the body back to its intrinsic rhythms. It’s about allowing gravity to align with the body’s more natural wisdom."
Directed by Mikki Willis and produced by elevate FILMS, the video was filmed outdoors at Esalen Institute in Big Sur, CA.
