The cars, once again, lay demolished and crumpled after their collision.
And while police are still investigating the car crash on the Rt. 611 Bypass Saturday night, many who saw the scene Saturday night and Sunday morning immediately began speculating that it was caused, once again, by high speed.
Doylestown Township Police on Sunday said initial estimates suggest that the drivers involved in Saturday night's crash were speeding at more than 100 miles an hour, according to Phillyburbs.
Saturday's crash comes three months after another high-speed crash that left a little girl dead and her grandmother fighting for her life.
The death of 9-year-old Holly Huynh on Nov. 21 stunned the Doylestown community. So, too, did the investigators' position that the driver of the car that struck the car Holly was in was going more than 142 miles an hour.
Drew Bodden, 38, of Plumstead, has been charged with third-degree murder and other charges in connection with Holly's death.
Bodden is scheduled for formal arraignment on those charges this Friday at noon at the Bucks County Courthouse in Doylestown.
Meanwhile, some have begun to call for stricter enforcement of the speed limit on the Bypass, which is 55 mph. Patch readers on our Facebook page had a lively discussion on the issue, with many saying that too many people drive way too fast on the road.
"People need to SLOW DOWN. Police need to be present and enforce the speed limits," said one commenter. "You cannot drive whatever speed you feel like driving. People's lives are at risk - and it's usually innocent victims that get killed."
The road passes through Doylestown Township and is patrolled by the township's police department. Township supervisor Ryan Manion said Sunday that she would begin looking into the matter.
